Flame retardancy mechanism of phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants
Phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants are composed of metal phosphate salts, carbon-forming agents, and other synergists. They primarily enhance the flame retardancy of glass fiber-reinforced PA6 and PA66 polymers by promoting carbon formation. This strengthens the carbon layer structure, which has properties such as flame resistance, thermal insulation, and oxygen barrier, potentially interrupting combustion. Intumescent flame retardants operate based on this mechanism.
