Liquid Ammonium Polyphosphate
-- Steady & Reliable Manufacturer --
Introduction
Not every fire protection job calls for a powder. Liquid ammonium polyphosphate is an aqueous solution of ammonium polyphosphate that can be applied by spraying, dipping, or impregnation, or mixed directly into water-based formulations. It delivers phosphorus and nitrogen in a form that penetrates porous materials such as wood, paper, and textiles.
When heated, the polyphosphate releases phosphoric acid, which promotes char formation and creates an insulating barrier, while ammonia release helps dilute flammable gases. Because the product is already in solution, there are no dispersion steps or particle settling to manage, and dosing can be handled with standard liquid equipment.
We supply liquid APP in several concentrations and polyphosphate chain-length ranges, and can adjust grades for impregnation, coating, or additive use.

Values are typical and depend on grade. Storage containers should be plastic or corrosion-resistant. Safety data sheets and technical data sheets are available for each grade.
Application
Liquid APP is used wherever a water-based, penetrating, or easy-to-dose flame retardant is needed.
- Wood and wood-based panels: Impregnation and surface treatment of timber, plywood, and fiberboard.
- Paper, cardboard, and packaging: Fire-retardant treatment of paper products and corrugated board.
- Textiles and nonwovens: Finishing of natural fiber fabrics, curtains, and filter materials.
- Water-based coatings and adhesives: Phosphorus source for fireproof coatings and binders.
- Fire-retardant solutions and gels: Base ingredient in fire-blocking and fire-retardant liquid products.
Advantages
- Easy to apply: Sprayed, dipped, rolled, or injected with standard liquid handling equipment.
- Deep penetration: Dissolved phosphate moves into porous substrates for protection beyond the surface.
- No dispersion required: Mixes directly into water-based systems without milling or settling problems.
- Halogen-free: Phosphorus-nitrogen chemistry with low smoke and no halogenated gases.
- Adjustable grades: Concentration and chain length can be tuned to the application.
